About This Program & How We Can Help
GP partners Adelaide was announced by SA Health to be the coordinating body for the state-wide GP Obstetric Shared Care SA program from 1 September 2009.
The aim of the program is to increase choices and options for pregnancy care for women and to provide continuity of care. The program enables, within appropriate structures and guidelines, a specialist obstetrician or a GP obstetrician in conjunction with shared care providers, to facilitate shared antenatal and postnatal care in a safe and acceptable manner.
All GPs who practice obstetric shared care in SA are required to be accredited with the program. Accreditation is dependent on satisfactory antenatal care experience and completion of an OSC Accreditation program.
GP partners Adelaide immediate priorities for the program are:
- The development of the register of accredited General Practitioners which can be accessed through the GP partners Adelaide website;
- The determination of a calendar of events for the GP Obstetric Shared Care accreditation Program;
- The formation of a Clinical Governance Group which will have linkages with the SA Health Obstetric Clinical Reference Group, and
- Communication and promotion of the program.
