How we can help

gpns provides support through practice visits, telephone information, resource provision and via updates in our weekly practice bulletin "Wednesday In The South" (WITS), with a focus on:

  • Developing strategies to increase immunisation coverage in the south
  • Delivering the National Immunisation Program - SA (NIPSA)
  • Brokering and coordinating 'best practice' education
  • Submitting immunisation information electronically to the ACIR secure site and via online claiming
  • Using GPII020A reports (children identified as overdue on ACIR) and implementing recall and reminder systems to improve awareness
  • Vaccine queries and catch-up programs for overdue children
  • Current information and resources

Online Learning for Nurses in General Practice - Australian Practice Nurses Association

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) has launched six new online learning activities aimed at practice nurses and other members of practice teams to boost their immunisation knowledge. While tailored to the needs of practice nurses, some of the modules will be of interest to GPs, for which Category 2 QA&CPD points apply. The activities are free and are available through the RACGP’s online education portal gplearning.
