About Us

From its Bedford Park base, gpns spans an area of around 6,500km2 - the traditional lands of the Kaurna and Ngarrindjeri peoples. gpns supports more than 100 practices located across Adelaide’s inner and outer southern suburbs, the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. We are an independent, not for profit organisation, governed by a Board of Directors elected by our membership which includes general practitioners and practice nurses.

As an independent, not for profit organisation, gpns is part of a national network of more than 100 local organisations (divisions) that work with general practice to deliver local health solutions. Divisions are involved in wide-ranging activities including health promotion, early intervention and prevention strategies, chronic disease management, medical education and workforce support. We are primary funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

gpns is passionate about the central role that general practice, working with others, plays in delivering intergrated, consumer-focused primary health care. We aim to be the provider of choice in supporting general practice to maintain that position and to advance our primary health care system.

Our Vision

Our Mission
